About Golden Age ...

Some of you may recognize my name -- John Reynolds -- from my time as the Vintage Instrument Manager for a well-known Staten Island vintage fretted instrument dealer. In January of 1999, after 8-1/2 years and with some regret, I gave notice, so that I would be free to start Golden Age Fretted Instruments, LLC.

My goals here are to provide the same level of fine service which I was accustomed to supplying in my previous position, while offering a great selection of new  guitars by some of today's finest builders, clean, original vintage collectible guitars and used utility instruments.

Specialties...

Golden Age's focus has really shifted in recent years. While I still love clean and original vintage guitars, I have really developed a keen appreciation for modern hand crafted instruments. There has never been a time when more quality guitars are being built by individual luthiers than there are today - a real "Golden Age" of fretted instruments. There is something magical about observing the creative processes of the builders and watching their work evolve. I owe a debt of gratitude to all the luthiers I have met and from whom I have learned so much.

Also, I'm very pleased to be the exclusive North American distributor for the fine custom guitars of Spanish luthier Josep Melo, whose online catalogue you'll find herein.
